Free Base64 Encoder & Decoder
This Base64 tool encodes text into Base64 and decodes Base64 back to text, with full Unicode support for emoji and non-English characters. It is designed for preparing API payloads, data URLs and email content, and for inspecting encoded strings. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
Encoding converts text to UTF-8 bytes first (so every Unicode character survives), then to Base64. Decoding reverses the process and reports invalid input instead of guessing. Base64 output grows input by roughly one third, padding = characters are normal.

Frequently asked questions
What is Base64 encoding?
A way to represent binary data as plain ASCII text, used for email attachments, data URLs and API payloads.
Does this handle emoji and non-English text?
Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes first, so any Unicode characters encode and decode correctly.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding anyone can reverse, it hides nothing. Never use it to protect secrets or passwords.
Why did my string gain = signs?
Equals signs are padding rounding output to a multiple of four characters. They are a normal part of Base64.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Encoding and decoding happen locally in your browser.
