Free Word Counter
This word counter helps estimate the length of any text, essays, blog briefs, product descriptions or social captions. It is designed for students checking a minimum word count, writers matching a publishing brief, and marketers scoping SEO content. Paste your text below; counts update as you type and nothing is uploaded anywhere.
How it works
Words are counted by trimming the text and splitting on whitespace (spaces, tabs, line breaks). Characters with spaces is the raw length; characters without spaces strips all whitespace first. Sentences split on . ! ? followed by a space or line end. Reading time divides words by 200 per minute; speaking time by 130 per minute, widely used planning averages, not guarantees.
Example
| Input | Words | Characters | Reading time |
|---|---|---|---|
| "SEO Solve helps you solve problems faster." | 7 | 41 | under 1 min |
